Start of intensive testing on the entire REM network

Nature of dynamic testing

Starting June 20, 2025, and continuing through August 18, the REM will gradually begin its intensive testing phase, an important milestone in preparation for the launch of service on the Deux-Montagnes and Anse-à-l’Orme branches.

During this period, REM cars will run from Brossard station to the Deux-Montagnes and Anse-à-l’Orme stations. The testing window will mainly extend from 5:30 a.m. to midnight, which corresponds to the schedule planned once the service is operational. There may occasionally be minimal REM car traffic or track maintenance work during the night.

Two types of tests will be conducted, during which the frequency, speed, and number of REM cars in circulation will vary:

  • Starting in early July: Integration testing of network components, during which the number of REM cars in circulation will be reduced;
  • Then until August 18: performance testing of the systems, with an increase in the number of REM cars in circulation and their frequency of passage.

The purpose of these tests is to evaluate and challenge a set of components and systems required to ensure the proper functioning of the REM in preparation for its upcoming launch.

Next steps

These tests precede the final phase before launch, called the dry run. This phase will involve operating the REM and simulating full network service as if it were in operation, but without passengers on board. Depending on the progress of testing this summer, more details about this phase will be shared.

Please note that :

  • Outside the REM testing and circulating periods, track maintenance will be scheduled;
  • It will be possible to see one or more stationary REM cars, as well as REM staff along the tracks;
  • For safety reasons, unauthorized persons are prohibited from walking on the tracks, under penalty of prosecution.
